Laura is an 18 years old graduate of North Crowley High School, in Fort Worth. She is currently at Texas A & M majoring in 'Bio-Medical Sciences'.
Laura has been singing her whole life, but started singing publicly after joining the Texas Girls' Choir, at age 7. After 5 years with the Texas Girls' Choir, Laura decided to quit singing with an organized choir and started performing at local opry houses. She also entertained folks at retirement centers, area restaurants, city celebrations, private parties, rodeos and even at music stores! If you browse through her website, you can see that Laura has been entertaining audiences all over the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex, as well as traveling to other parts of the country as opportunities arise!
Laura travels to Nashville each summer to participate in Fan Fair. This summer Laura had three 'shows' at the Hard Rock Cafe in Nashville, along with singing at several spots on Broadway. In addition, Laura has added many new members to her fan club each year by meeting people in the IFCO (International Fan Club Organization) Booth in the Nashville Convention Center.
Laura has been invited to sing for the firemen in New York City on two different occasions. While in New York, she also sang at the Hard Rock Cafe. Laura had the honor of singing in Oklahoma City, at the dedication ceremony in which a fire truck was donated by the State of Oklahoma, to the New York City Fire Department. She had the opportunity to open for Steve Holy at his concert in Oklahoma City. Laura has had two live interviews with Johnny K, on WSM radio in Nashville. It was an honor to have the 4 songs from her latest CD, "I'm Not Britney", played on WSM radio. In addition, Laura filmed a video-bio while in Nashville. It was exciting to be interviewed backstage at the Grand Ole Opry, by Johnny K and by Mel McDaniel.
In the 5 years that Laura has been singing, she has been given many opportunities to sing in unique situations. She was invited to sing at the Braschler Theatre in Branson, Missouri. She has been received many honors and awards at the various opries where she has been a 'regular'. Laura won the title of "Honeyfest Idol" after winning a competition in Burleson, therefore giving her the opportunity to represent Burleson at various functions.
Laura occasionally sings "solos" at church, and sings for the "Parents of Murdered Children". She had the opportunity to sing at their national convention in Fort Worth.
Laura has recorded three CD's. The first, titled "I Ain't No Betty Crocker", has 9 original songs and 1 cover tune. The second CD, "From Texas to Tennessee", was recorded at Hilltop Recording Studio in Nashville, and includes 4 original songs. The third CD, "I'm Not Britney" was also recorded in Nashville. It was released in November, 2002 and includes 2 original songs, which were written for Laura, and 2 cover tunes. By going to Laura's homepage on her website, you can hear sound bytes of her music.
In addition to the three CD's, Laura also has a DVD. It includes the four songs from "I'm Not Britney", photos, and interviews by Mel McDaniel and "DJ Hall of Famer", Johnny K.
